Start Developing Your (Unique Selling Proposition)

In order to successfully market You Inc! You need to focus on what’s special and different about you! The best way to do this is to try to express your uniqueness in a single statement.

Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) or (EVP) Extra Value Proposition is the force that will drive your business to success. In todays competitive business world you have to differentiate your company from the competition!

Your (USP) or (EVP) should also be used as a “branding” tool that deploys strategy with every tactical marketing effort you use. Such as an ad, a postcard, or web site article explaining your company to the world. This allows you to build a lasting reputation while you’re making sales.

The ultimate goal of your (USP) or (EVP) branding is to have people say to you……
“Oh, yes I’ve heard of you. You’re the company who”

Has The Best Food! Or Has The Hottest Clothes!

Define what you want to accomplish with your marketing campaign. You can enhance brand awareness, collect customer information and engage consumers while taking them through the buying process.

Get connected with the appropriate service provider for your business. Check out marketing firms that would be helpful for your business branding needs.

Decide what marketing tactics are right for the message you want to send. Sweepstakes, polls and trivia encourage interaction from your fans!

Invitations to access information online and alerts educate your customers on why your Brand should be their obvious choice!

Make sure your marketing messages are consistent with all of your other marketing materials.

Brand awareness comes from seeing the same logos, graphics, colors, fonts and tag lines on every promotional piece your company produces.

Your (USP) or (EVP) does not need to be expressed in 25 words or less.

It could be a detailed set of performance standards. It should be tested to assure that it addresses a need that is truly important to your buyers. Create an irresistible offer that is an “invitation” that is so clearly compelling. So powerful, and so obviously attractive, that no one in his/her mind could refuse.

Your USP should be used repetitively in your marketing literature to build the customer’s or client’s identification of your company with your product or service. There are two major benefits in developing your (USP).

First, it clearly differentiates your business in the eyes of your current and potential customers or clients.

Second, it focuses your team on delivering the promise of your companies (USP)!

This should be posted for everyone on your team to see along with your companies mission statement.

Helping to improve your companies internal performance through everyone being focused on the same outcome, massive customer service!

The simple test of determining whether you’ve constructed a good (USP) for your business is whether it sells for you!

If it sells your business or brand, your (USP) is meaningful.
